Maré Dewitt

My journey began as a Supply Chain Consultant, where I specialized in project management and consulting within the retail industry. In 2021, I transitioned into circular economy practices with the African Circular Economy Network (ACEN). Collaborating on projects such as developing training for circular economy value chains, supporting Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) implementation, and working with organizations like The UnSchool of Disruptive Design, ACEN, and Circular Vision.

In 2022, I was part of the ACEN team that played a key role in bringing the World Circular Economy Forum 2022 (WCEF2022) to Africa. As the project manager for the Nigeria studio, I supported the Nigerian team in bringing the WCEF to Nigeria. Additionally, I managed the workshops leading up to the event, where my duties included sourcing case studies, managing panellists, drafting workshop outlines, and managing timelines.

Working with ACEN and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), we conducted an exploratory study on the feasibility of a circular economy platform in South Africa. In 2023, I led the implementation of this platform, further solidifying my commitment to sustainability.

Furthermore, with a passion for education, I’ve contributed to corporate training initiatives for Swivel Skills and the Mrp Foundation, focusing on circular economy principles, sustainability, and climate literacy.

Throughout my career, whether in supply chain consulting or circular economy endeavours, I’ve remained dedicated to driving sustainable practices, believing that they can transform industries and societies for the better.
